Great piece. The obvious but annoying question: what value judgments can we make on the people who designed the systems in the first place?

Thank you! And, as usual, you ask good questions. I am quite practiced at making value judgments 🤣 whether or not I’m justified is a different matter. There are plenty of leaders who deserve to be held accountable not so much for the systems they designed, but the systems they perpetuate even after being shown that it’s dysfunctional. I think those are two very different things. Overall, I wish more of our systems took a diffused design approach and were more decentralized rather than centralized. That’s why, in theory, I’m such a fan of blockchain technology. In a more decentralized system (example: democracy) at least the outcome is the one that the people have chosen themselves. Maybe?
